1. The Devil's Double [Blu-Ray] (2011)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With The Devil’s Double, we get a look at potentially interesting events behind the scenes in Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. Unfortunately, the film invests more in style than in substance, so it doesn’t deliver the power expected. The Blu-ray provides solid picture and audio as well as a smattering of good supplements. Double deserves a look due to strong lead

2. Mamma Mia!: Special Edition (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite a pretty good cast and a roster of solid pop tunes, Mamma Mia! thoroughly flops as a movie. Granted, it might flop as a stage production as well; I never saw it so I can’t say. I do know that the film production suffers from a myriad of problems and comes with exceedingly few strengths to balance out those weaknesses. The DVD provides fairly good

3. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Extended Edition) [Blu-Ray] (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Two Towers doesn’t feel as engrossing as its predecessor, but that’s almost inevitable given its spot as the middle chapter of a trilogy. It’s still an excellent movie that continues the tale well. The Blu-ray adds 44 minutes of mostly useful and entertaining material that serves to make the film even stronger than its Oscar-nominated theatrical cut.

5. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter [Blu-Ray] (2012)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With a title like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, I figured the film would offer a campy spoof. Instead, I got a surprisingly effective – and serious – action flick that only falters because it bites off more chronological territory than it can chew. The Blu-ray boasts excellent picture and audio along with a pretty good set of supplements. Both as a mo

6. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again [4K UHD] (2018)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: To call Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again an improvement over its predecessor would be a massive understatement. Not that Go turns into a great film, but it's a professional piece of work that becomes sporadically effective. Starring Amanda Seyfried, Lily James. Universal, $39.98, 10/23/2018.

8. Tomb Raider [4K UHD] (2018)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A reboot of a moderately successful franchise, 2018’s Tomb Raider never turns into an especially engaging adventure. Burdened with a flat plot and a general lack of real excitement, the movie feels wholly mediocre. Starring Alicia Vikander, Dominic West. Warner, $44.95, 6/12/2018.

9. Prison Break: The Event Series [Blu-Ray] (2017)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Although I enjoyed Prison Break during its original run, this “event series” seems much less satisfying. It feels like the new project does little more than regurgitate ideas without much creative spark. Starring Dominic Purcell, Wentworth Miller. Fox, $39.99, 6/27/2017.
